Fallen Empire: Skepticism
02/01/05 || Lord K Philipson
I threw the CDR out my balcony, hence the non-existing titles.
They claim this is an EP. I claim this is a demo. I also claim that Peter Forsberg is the best damn player the world ever saw, but that’s besides the point. Even if it’s far more interesting to discuss that than to go thru these 4 tracks. Hell, talking about Forsberg is more interesting than alot of stuff. Anyways, I can’t say that Eternal Frost Records is high up my list of labels being known for having excellent bands in their roster. And there’s no way Fallen Penis will change that. Here’s a week in the life of Fallen Empire;
Monday: Wake up, listen to At The Gates’ riffing. Forget what makes the riffs so good.
Tuesday: Wake up, listen to At The Gates’ riffing, realize that there’s no way they can create something as good or even close to as good, no matter how hard they try. Oh, and forget what makes At The Gates riffing so good.
Wednesday: Wake up, listen to At The Gates’ riffing but now mix it up with some other Swedish fancy metal as well as some Iron Maiden-esque harmonies. Continue to forget what makes At The Gates’ riffing so good. Realize they still can’t copy the supreme scene of Sweden. But what if they add a complete wart for the vocals?
Thursday: Wake up, listen to At The Gates’ riffing (and yes, forget about it) but now mix it up with some other Swedish fancy metal as well as some Iron Maiden-esque harmonies. Add Thy Wart for the vocal-spot. Damn, it still kind of sucks cock. What to do, what to do? Let’s see here… What if we make sure we get a half-assed production and some more lame riffs?
Friday: Forget about the band, play Trivial Pursuit. Play with yer penises. Play with anything but the musical equipment.
Saturday: Wake up, listen to At The Gates’ riffing but now mix it up with some other Swedish fancy metal as well as some Iron Maiden-esque harmonies. Add Thy Wart for the vocal-spot and also bring in a half-assed production and more of that At The Gates-riffing. Realize it still doesn’t work. No, forget that it doesn’t work. There’s a Sunday too…
Sunday: Hoola-balloo yer way around the house, pick up some more 2nd grade Swedish metal-riffing from the backyard, send out this crap to magazines around the world, get bashed, kill the band.
Sum it up: I have had rashes more fun than this. A decent riff or 2 won’t change that fact.
